2024 Quarter 1 - Market Video Update

1st Quarter Returns:

Large Cap U.S. (VOO):   10.40%

Small Cap U.S. (VSCIX):  7.52%           

International (VXUS):    4.43%

U.S. Bond Agg (Agg):  -0.74%

Equity: Major stock indices, including the S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average, and Nasdaq Composite, posted solid gains during the quarter, reaching new all-time highs. Technology, healthcare, and consumer discretionary sectors outperformed, while energy and utilities lagged.

Fixed Income: Bond markets experienced volatility amid rising inflation expectations and speculation about the timing of monetary policy tightening. Yields on Treasury bonds fluctuated, with the yield curve steepening at times. High-yield and corporate bonds delivered mixed results.

Real Estate: Real estate prices have been under pressure since late 2022, but that may be changing in certain sectors. Residential real estate prices saw an uptick, and from a few of my conversations with real estate investment groups, they’re getting excited about deploying cash.         

Let us tell you about the great asset we have in TJ (and how she can be of service to you). Recently, a client was having trouble transferring assets from her father’s estate to her bank account. It turns out the account was stuck at a transfer agent, who required a stock certificate to transfer the account. Ever helpful TJ called the transfer agent and requested the forms our client needed to submit to obtain a reissued stock certificate, which kick-started the process of transferring the account.
